This quote from nurse, educator, and author Sharon Hudacek rings incredibly true in today’s healthcare field. As CNO at Health Carousel Travel Nursing, I sometimes get the opportunity to meet nurses whose dedication to their patients and co-workers goes well beyond what’s necessary to just “get the job done.” For these nurses, their passion coincides with their career in a truly incredible way.

ABOUT THE DAISY AWARD® FOR EXTRAORDINARY NURSES

The DAISY Award honors the exceptional work nurses do for patients and families every day. The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who passed away in late 1993 after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease ITP. Patrick’s family brainstormed about what they could do in his memory, and vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care he received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization. To say thank you to nurses everywhere, they established a recognition program known today as The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses.
