Celebrating Mallerie Smith, RN: DAISY Award Winner and MSO Traveler

“Bound by paperwork, short on hands, sleep, and energy… nurses are rarely short on caring.”

This quote from nurse, educator, and author Sharon Hudacek rings incredibly true in today’s healthcare field. As CNO at Medical Staffing Options, I sometimes get the opportunity to meet nurses whose dedication to their patients and co-workers goes well beyond what’s necessary to just “get the job done.” For these nurses, their passion coincides with their career in a truly incredible way.

It’s with great pride that recruiter Elizabeth Warnement and the rest of our team at Medical Staffing Options celebrate one such travel nurse, Mallerie Smith, a recent recipient of The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. Please join us in thanking Mallerie for her dedication to her patients, their families, and her assigned facility!

Mallerie is currently on assignment in Pennsylvania. She recently received the following staff recognitions (three in all!):

“During leadership rounds, your patient said you were wonderful. You sat with the patient and provided her comfort when she needed it the most. Thank you for providing such great patient care.”

“Patients’ family thanked Mallerie for being one of their favorite nurses!”

“Multiple patients stated that you are such a good nurse. They said you have such a great personality and were very nice to them. Thank you for taking such great care of your patients.”

Please join the entire MSO team in thanking Mallerie for her remarkable dedication to her patients, their families, and her peers on assignment!

About The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses

The DAISY Award honors the exceptional work nurses do for patients and families every day. The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who passed away in late 1993 after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease ITP. Patrick’s family brainstormed about what they could do in his memory, and vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care he received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization. To say thank you to nurses everywhere, they established a recognition program known today as The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses.
